AUCTIONEERS JJ Morris have warned sheep and lamb producers to ensure they have Farm Assured status.

“The busy store marts will be here before we turn around and it will be vital that producers are able to prove that their lambs are farm assured as the FAWL status of store lambs will become an important factor,” said a spokesman.

“Please continue to place your FAWL stickers on your licenses and if you are not Farm Assured it might be time to consider it.”

The Farm Assured scheme is overseen by Welsh Lamb and Beef Producers Ltd (WLBP), a cooperative owned by over 7,200 Welsh farmers.

It strives to strengthen consumer confidence by providing assurance of farm standards through the Farm Assured Welsh Livestock Beef and Lamb Scheme (FAWL).

Farms are assessed by Quality Welsh Food Certification Ltd. (QWFC), a body independently accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to strict European standards.

Certified farms are assessed by qualified inspectors to ensure that they conform with the FAWL protocol for beef and sheep farms.

Consumers can therefore be confident that by purchasing Welsh Beef and Welsh Lamb, they will be receiving farm assured meat one can always expect from the green green grass of Wales.
