A Welsh Black bull topped 10,000gns at Dolgellau in the first sale of 2023 by the Welsh Black Cattle Society.
Top price of the day at the 67th Annual Pedigree Winter Show & Sale went to Tynygraig Samuel 5th, a May 2021 born bull from Messrs EW & M Jenkins, Talybont, which sold for 10,000gns to WRP Jones & Co, Ysguboriau, Tywyn.
Next at 9,500gns was June 2021 born Deicws Samuel 2nd, Reserve Champion Bull in the pre-sale show by Mr G C Williams, Tyddyn Deicws, Abergele, which was knocked down to Mrs Gwenfair Jones & Sons, Hafod yr Esgob Isaf, Cwmtirmynach.
Champion Bull Caerynwch Banner 18th, a July 2017 born bull by TW Williams & Co, Dolgellau, sold for 8,500gns to the pre-show judges, Partneriaid Dolaugwyn, Bryncrug, Tywyn.
Machreth Benjamin 15th, an April 2021 born bull from Mr Lewis R Williams, Tyddyn Bach, Dolgellau, was knocked down at 8,000gns to DW Jenkins, Neuadd yr Ynys, Machynlleth.
Deicws Samuel, a May 2021 born bull from Mr GC Williams, Tyddyn Deicws, Abergele, was sold to RE Griffiths, Llwyn Mafon Uchaf, Criccieth for 6,500gns.
The champion female, June 2020 born Dysynni Lowri 4th from Mr W T Davies, Waenfach, Llanegryn, in calf to Llechwedd Ebrillwr 12th, sold for 2,900gns to GP Lynch, Brynffynnon, Corwen. Reserve champion female, Dysynni Haf 14th also from Mr W T Davies, Waenfach, in-calf to Llechwedd Ebrillwr, sold for 2600gns to GJ Wynne & Co, Hendre Glan Alwen, Corwen.
The champion maiden heifer, October 2021 born Llwynsarn Cati 24th from HW Jones, Llwynsarn, Rhydymain sold for 2,000gns to R Hughes, Glanrafon, Bodorgan.
Reserve champion heifer, June 2021 born Mynach Dil 23rd from Messrs A & RC Williams, Pentre, Cwmtirmynach, sold for 1,950gns to GP Lynch, Brynffynnon, Corwen.
