A DENBIGH farmer hopes to transform his field into a peaceful getaway location with three luxury timber cabins.
Mr Rhys Hooson has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning committee, seeking permission to build the holiday cabins on what is now agricultural land.
The field is adjacent to Pen Ddwy Accar.
If the plans get the go-ahead, the cabins would be built from timber cladding with tile-effect roofing sheets, featuring double-glazed wood frame doors.
Septic tanks, landscaping, vehicular access, and parking would also feature on the 1.16 hectares of land.
Mr Hooson, of Lawnt, Denbigh, hopes the holiday cabins will allow him to diversify his farm, providing stability for his family. He also claimed the cabins would create four part-time jobs.
Mr Hooson said he wanted to provide ‘luxury accommodation’, rather than glamping pods, which have risen in popularity in recent years.

“After careful deliberation, the decision to opt for luxury accommodation became the preferred choice,” he wrote in a letter to the council.
“Over the past few years, short breaks for couples have been significantly increasing, as people look for unique ‘getaways’ without having to leave the UK.
“Many landowners, however, decide to turn to a ‘glamping site’, whereby there are significant numbers of pods, all within a relatively small area.
“While this may be the most suitable option for them, I feel we would be best suited to a more discrete style of accommodation that is in keeping with the environment and provides a unique stay for those who decide to book.”
The letter added: “This is because I feel that the location of the farm is perfect for this secluded and peaceful getaway as it sits somewhat elevated whereby the entire Vale of Clwyd would be viewable from the cabins.”
The planning application will be discussed at a future Denbighshire planning committee meeting.
