A FARM on the edge of Llanfyllin has opened a shop to sell the produce it grows.
On June 9, Llanfyllin’s chemical-free Pila-Pala farm opened its honesty farm-shop, selling a selection of the fruit, vegetables and flowers grown at the premises.
Pili-Pala Farm is an organic market garden in Cwm Nant y Meichaid, on the outskirts of Llanfyllin and supplies local shops such as Down to Earth with produce.
The one-acre market garden hopes to encourage ecological diversity, paying special attention to their soil to ensure it stays healthy and creates an environment for pants to thrive.
Pili-Pala says no chemicals are involved with the growing of its produce, which is transported to the Honesty shop just a few meters away, meaning customers can buy the fruit and vegetables on the same day they were picked.
Llanfyllin Mayor Peter Lewis was in attendance to open the shop and was there to see the shop’s successful first day, during which they nearly sold out.
Pili-Pala farm wrote on their social media page: “What an amazing first day for our honesty shop, so much so that we are running a bit low on stock, but things will pick up next week as the harvests increase.
“Thanks so much for all those first day customers. Thanks also to Llanfyllin town mayor Peter Lewis for opening the honesty shop this morning.
“We've had some amazing feedback and a few suggestions too.
“Its going to be so exciting as we evolve and adapt to become an amazing location for quality home grown fruit and veg.”
