ABER Falls Single Malt Welsh Whisky has been awarded protected geographical indication (UK GI) status – the scheme brought in to replace the EU’s protected designation of origin label.

Aber Falls is located on the foothills of Snowdonia, in the village of Abergwyngregyn. 

By achieving UK GI status, not only is the liquid recognised nationally and internationally as being a quality product with a distinct style, but new job roles have been created, with the distillery now employing more than 35 team members from across North Wales.

Made using 100 per cent Welsh malted barley, Aber Falls curates its award-winning Single Malt Welsh Whisky using rock-filtered water taken from the Aber Falls Waterfall and is made by a team of people from the area.

Aber Falls Single Malt whisky is distilled in a mix of copper pot and stainless-steel stills and includes a mix of Oloroso sherry casks, PX sherry casks, Bourbon casks and Virgin Oak casks for a totally unique flavour. Deep amber gold in colour, this Single Malt gives an aroma of sweet fruits with a hint of clove and delivers a rich and full-bodied palate, with sweet sherry notes, dark chocolate, and espresso.

It stimulates a long and lingering finish of dried fruit and subtle spice.
