THE eighth Nantmel Tractor Run took place on Sunday, July 7, organised by the Tractor Enthusiasts of Nantmel.
Brecon and Radnorshire Member of the Senedd James Evans and Nantmel county councillor Claire Johnson-Wood were on hand to welcome everyone before starting the tractors off on their tour of Nantmel and surrounding communities.
This year the run had chosen to support Rhayader Leg Club and Cancer Research UK in their fundraising efforts.
Tractor drivers came from Ceredigion, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Carmarthenshire as well the immediate local area.
After the civic send off in the summer sunshine the convoy headed westwards towards Nantglas and round to Gaufron before a downpour. On to overlook Rhayader, now heading northwards picking up Llwyncwtta Lane and the Beilli’s Lane to emerge on the B4518 and descend into St Harmon.
The procession took the Abbeycwmhir road, through the deer invaded woods and took the right of way to Bwlch-y-Sarnau and then to Abbeycwmhir, before making its way back over the hill to Nantmel and down Llwyn’s Lane to the lunch stop.
After refreshments and a raffle, it was off again, on a circular route around Nantmel, taking in the 360 degree views from Bwlch Mawr, turning down Carmel Lane to Gwystre before returning back to finish via the Bwlchbrondinam farm track.
Rhayader Leg Club and Cancer Research UK each received a donation of £300 from the event.
The Tractor Enthusiasts of Nantmel would like to thank Brian Pugh and the Lewis family for the use of their land, the participants and all helpers for making it a very enjoyable day.
