THE 75th anniversary of Cwmowen Show was celebrated in style earlier this month – including competitions like the ‘Spudtacular’ and guessing the weight of two donkeys.
The show was held on Wednesday, August 14, at Blaenbwch Farm, Maesmynis, Builth Wells.
Starting at 9am the show included 80 dogs and their owners taking part in the sheepdog trials.
A display of children’s crafts competition entries was followed by a sports afternoon.
It included a bean bag and sack races, a cross country race, a companion dog show, the pony show and weighing-in of the ‘Spudtacular’ competition, which was for the heaviest crop of potatoes,
grown by committee members from a root potato. There was also the ‘Guess the weight of two Donkeys’ competition.
Carol Smith was the show president, judges were Roy Jones (sheepdog trials), John Kirk (pony show) and Meg Taylor, of Builth Wells Veterinary Practice (dog show).
Thanks go to all the sponsors and the Powell family, plus all the local children and adults who made the show such a success.
