A packed ringside at Monmouthshire Livestock Centre saw prices top at 3,200gns for the overall pre-sale champion, a ewe lamb from Myfyr Evans (Rhaeadr).
She is sired by Carony Ca Ching and out of a homebred ewe and headed home with judge, Gareth Jones for his Haverfordwest-based Robleston flock.
Next best call was for the reserve champion ewe lamb, again from Myfyr Evans pen. Sired by Ca Ching and out of a Lakeview dam, she sold at 3,000gns to S Elsworthy, Chulmleigh, Devon.
Ewe lambs continued the strong trade when Gary M Owen (Morris) sold to a top of 2,200gns for a lamb by Claycrop Colada and out of a Morris ewe, selling to Harry Lyons, Congleton. Another lamb from the same pen hit 2,000gns, sired by Morris Medellin, she sold to Dafydd Jones (Frongoy). Myfyr Evans sold another at 1,800gns to J Davis, Swansea.
Topping the shearling ewes at 1,500gns was one from Ross Lawrence (Roundacre), a Strathbogie Magic Mike daughter and in lamb to Castleisle Blackadder, she caught the eye of RD Chesters Ltd, Herefordshire.
A call of 1,400gns was met twice, the first to a shearling ewe from Dafydd Jones (Frongoy), a Stockton Snipers Son daughter and in lamb to Ballycannon Flashman, she sold to P Brooks, Bath. The second price tag was met for a ewe lamb from Oliver Sparks, sired by Pyeston PI Staker, she headed to Pontyclun, Glamorgan with R Western.
Dafydd Jones sold further shearling ewes at 1,350gns, a Strathbogie Never Say Never daughter and in lamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, she was bought by Penycoed Farm, Nant Y Caws; 1,150gns, a Myddle Spartacus daughter and in lamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, she sold to previous buyer RD Chesters Ltd, and 1,000gns for another Strathbogie Never Say Never daughter, in lamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, she sold to H J Morris, Crickhowell.
Ross Lawrence sold another shearling ewe at 1,200gns, a Strathbogie Magic Mike daughter and in lamb to Castleisle Blackadder, she caught the eye of J Davis, Swansea.
Harley Turner (Harley) sold the best of his shearling run to 1,100gns, a Sportsmans Liquid Gold daughter and in lamb to Howgillfoot Harvest Gold, she headed to Brecon with SA Williams, with another at 950gns. Oliver Sparks sold a shearlings at 1,000gns, a Frongoy Mad Max daughter, in lamb to Howgillfoot Viper, she was the pick for F Hendrie, Talgarth.
Older ewes topped at 1,000gns for the second prize ewe from Huw Thomas (Penygarn), a Seagrave Anniversary daughter, in lamb to Bridgeview Beat Em Up, she sold to DM Griffiths Swansea. Next best at 900gns from Dora Wyn & Ioan Rhys Jones-Evans (Islwyn), a Limestone Legacy daughter, in lamb to Ballynacannon Flashman, she headed with previous buyer J Davis, Swansea.
Dafydd Jones topped at 880gns with a Ballynacannon McGregor daughter, she sold in lamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, and was purchased by R Francis, Ruthin, with Mike Davies & Sons (Safaddan) selling their first prize ewe at 850gns to DAL Davies, Tregaron, a Lakeview Black Gold daughter, in lamb to Carony The Conqueror, who took another at 760gns. Dafydd Jones sold another at 850gns, a Strathbogie Rock On Tommy, and in lamb to Ballynacannon Flashman to previous buyer RD Chesters Ltd.
Averages: 21 flock ewes £727.50; 43 shearling ewes £808.99 and 54 ewe lambs £798.19.
